Delta Dental Coverage Availability & Fees
Delta Dental is the nation’s leading insurance provider, and they offer many different plans for individuals who prioritize oral healthcare. Whether offered through your employer or purchased independently, you will notice variations in monthly premiums, deductibles, and annual maximums; however, when choosing an in-network dentist, you’ll find that many of the coverage benefits follow a similar 100-80-50 structure and look something like the following:
- 100% preventive or routine services (i.e., dental exams and cleanings)
- 80% basic services (i.e., dental fillings, root canals, or tooth extractions)
- 50% major services (i.e., dental crowns, dental bridges, or dental implants)
Some services that are unlikely to be covered include cosmetic dental treatments, such as teeth whitening or veneers. Also, depending on your plan, it may or may not cover orthodontia.
You must first meet your deductible before Delta Dental will agree to pay for any applied restorative service. Also, your remaining annual maximum will be considered, as this is the agreed-upon amount your insurance company will pay throughout a single calendar year.
As an in-network dentist with Delta Dental, we will do our best to maximize your benefits and find ways to help you avoid going over your annual maximum, which can cause you to incur out-of-pocket expenses. If possible, we will spread out your treatment over the calendar years so that you can use the remaining funds that are available while also taking advantage of your new maximum after the first of the year.
